The ledger

Love is not a ledger
So don’t keep score
It won’t add up to anything
To assess your gives and gets
Between your offerings
And what you receive
The books may never balance
Indeed how could they
When one deals in
Sea worn pebbles
And the other in wild flowers
So throw away the ledger
Go dance on the beach
Or the mountain top
Under the light of the moon
And count your blessings instead
