The Poet's Muse

When he no longer searched
for her
The poetry stopped looking
for him
His heal wanted to remain
wounded
The changes were unnerving
within

Sanity and silence had
tiptoed in
Pain and prose stomped
right out
Crystal clear water
flowed and soothed
Where smoke and flames
had once torn through

On balance, he mused
It’s better that way
